Zen Video Player (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the information associated with your use of the Zen Video Player app — an entertainment app for browsing and playing local video and audio files across a wide range of formats. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it’s stored, and the choices you have.

1. Local Media & Usage (Device-only, by permission)

• The app requires access to your device storage/media to list, browse and play audio and video files (examples: .mp4, .mkv, .avi, .mp3, .flac, .wav, .webm, etc.).

• File metadata (file names, paths, duration, thumbnails generated by the app) and playback state (last played position, playlists you create) may be read and cached locally to provide a smooth user experience.

• Important: Media files themselves remain on your device and are not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share or back them up using an in-app feature that sends files to cloud services (if such features are offered and you opt in).

2. Device & Diagnostic Data (non-personal)

• We may collect non-identifying diagnostic information such as app version, operating system, crash logs, basic device model, and usage analytics to improve app stability and performance. This information does not include the content of your media files.

3. Optional Personal Data (only if you provide it)

• If you create a profile, sync playlists, or use optional cloud features (if available), we may store email or account identifiers necessary to manage that service. Those features are explicitly opt-in.

• Storage / Media access (Android: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO/AUDIO where applicable; iOS: Photos/Media access): Required to browse and play files located on your device.

• Notifications: For optional playback notifications or reminders; only used if you enable them.

• We request permissions only when needed and explain their purpose at the time of request.

• Provide core app functionality: browsing folders, indexing media, building playlists, and playing audio/video.

• Remember playback positions and user preferences (theme, playback speed, subtitles settings) locally to improve your experience.

• Diagnose and fix crashes or bugs using anonymized crash reports and analytics.

• If you enable optional cloud features, to sync playlists or backups across devices (only with your explicit consent).

🔹 Sharing & Third-Party Services

• Local-first: By default, your media files and browsing history remain on your device and are never shared.

• Third-party services: We may use trusted third-party services (for example, crash reporting, optional cloud sync, or analytics providers such as Firebase/Google services) to operate and improve the app. These services process limited technical/diagnostic data. We carefully select vendors and require them to handle data securely.

• Advertising & monetization: If the app includes ads, ad networks may collect anonymous identifiers for ad delivery. We do not sell your personal data.

• User-initiated sharing: Any sharing you trigger (share file, upload to cloud, or send a playlist) will be explicit — we will inform you when data will leave your device.

🔒 Data Security

• We follow industry standard practices to protect data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest as applicable.

• Local caches and app data are stored on the device; we recommend using device-level encryption and screen lock for additional safety.

• For optional cloud services, data is stored and transmitted using secure channels. Access to your optional account data is protected by authentication.

• Local metadata, playback history, and preferences are retained on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app.

• Diagnostic logs and analytics are retained only as needed to improve the app and comply with applicable policies.

You can:

• Grant or revoke permissions (storage, media, audio, notifications) from your device settings.

• Clear app data, cached thumbnails, or playback history from the app’s settings.

• Opt out of analytics where an opt-out is provided in the app settings (if available).

Zen Video Player is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child’s personal data has been collected without consent, contact us and we will promptly delete it.
