Zen Audio Player (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the information associated with your use of the Zen Audio Player app — an audio playback app for browsing and playing local audio files across a wide range of formats. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it’s stored, and the choices you have.

1. Local Media & Usage (Device-only, by permission)

· The app requires access to your device storage/media to list, browse and play audio files (examples: .mp3, .wav, .flac, .aac, .m4a, .ogg, .opus, etc.).

· File metadata (file names, paths, duration, thumbnails/cover art generated by the app) and playback state (last played position, playlists you create, play counts) may be read and cached locally to provide a smooth user experience.

· Important: Audio files themselves remain on your device and are not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share or back them up using an in-app feature that sends files to cloud services (if such features are offered and you opt in).

2. Device & Diagnostic Data (non-personal)

· We may collect non-identifying diagnostic information such as app version, operating system, crash logs, basic device model, and usage analytics to improve app stability and performance. This information does not include the content of your audio files.

3. Optional Personal Data (only if you provide it)

· If you create a profile, sync playlists, or use optional cloud features (if available), we may store email or account identifiers necessary to manage that service. Those features are explicitly opt-in.

🔹 Permissions Used & Why

• Storage / Media access (Android: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO/READ_MEDIA_IMAGES where applicable; iOS: Media/Files access): Required to browse and play audio files located on your device.

• Microphone (only if you use a feature that records or trims audio within the app): Requested only when that feature is used and with your explicit consent.

• Notifications: For optional playback notifications, lock-screen controls, or reminders; only used if you enable them.

• We request permissions only when needed and explain their purpose at the time of request.

• Provide core app functionality: browsing folders, indexing audio, building playlists, and playing audio files.

• Remember playback positions and user preferences (theme, playback speed, equalizer presets, subtitle/lyrics settings) locally to improve your experience.

• Diagnose and fix crashes or bugs using anonymized crash reports and analytics.

• If you enable optional cloud features, to sync playlists or backups across devices (only with your explicit consent).

• Local-first: By default, your audio files and browsing history remain on your device and are never shared.

• Third-party services: We may use trusted third-party services (for example, crash reporting, optional cloud sync, or analytics providers such as Firebase/Google services) to operate and improve the app. These services process limited technical/diagnostic data. We carefully select vendors and require them to handle data securely.

• Advertising & monetization: If the app includes ads, ad networks may collect anonymous identifiers for ad delivery. We do not sell your personal data.

• User-initiated sharing: Any sharing you trigger (share file, upload to cloud, or send a playlist) will be explicit — we will inform you when data will leave your device.
